Hit to the tee

MARRIOTT India experienced a proud moment as it brought home the first Indian chapter of The Marriott Presidents Trophy, held in Pune at the Oxford Golf Course.
Marriott International has been known to be a hospitality chain synonymous with nuanced taste and finer subtleties that define world-class lifestyle. Golf is an extension of that very lifestyle. Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre and Courtyard by Marriott Pune City Centre when brought together with golf as an entity, created a synergy called the Marriott Presidents Trophy.
The event saw participation from the biggest names in the corporate world of India. As the event was teed off, Rajeev Menon, area vice president, Marriott International-India, Australia, Malaysia and Maldives said, Marriott internationally has always closely identified with Golf. Precision, class and style are some of the core values that are a common between golf and Marriott as entities. That is why it was but natural for us to synergize the two and create the Marriott Presidents Trophy. The first Indian chapter of the tournament has seen a great response and we are looking at continuing the legacy year on year.
The event saw the presence of ace golfers Anirban Lahiri and Sharmila Nicolette. Speaking at the event, Anirban Lahiri said, Golf as a sport today enjoys an international standing and has a classy appeal. Entities like the Marriott International have ensured that with their participation and thrust, this sport continues enjoying the appeal it has. Being a part of The Marr i o t t P re s i - d e n t s Trophy has been an enjoyable experience.
Adding to it, Sharmila Nicolette said, The Golf Course always has a very distinctive charm for me. Being a part of the Indian chapter of The Marriott Presidents Trophy made me interact closely and watch the game of some of the biggest names in the corporate world of the country. Golf though growing in popularity has a potential that has been left untapped, tournaments like t h e s e h e l p you discover the golfer in you.
The tournament ended with a dinner and award function held at the Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre.Ju Young Ho, Manish Jaitha, Dr.Sushma Date and Parag Mehta walked away with the winning trophy. The winners will go on to compete for the Grand Final hosted by Simon Cooper President- Asia Pacific of Marriott International, at Hainan Island in November 2O11.
The other 3 Qualifying tournaments were held at Shanghai- for Eastern China Cluster, at Seoul for the South Korea hotel cluster and at Beijing for NE China Cluster of Marriott International.
